DIY Ganesha | Eco Friendly Ganpatis

This DIY Ganesha series is a GHP Ganesh Chaturthi 2018 special for our dear kiddos!

We are all eager to welcome Lord Ganesha this week. Kids love to celebrate their favourite and friendly Ganesha’s festival with great enthusiasm. So here are some DIY Ganesha Kids’ Crafts to make their favourite elephant-headed, friendly Ganeshas.

Here’s a real eco-friendly way to create your own Ganesha.

DIY Ganesha 1 – Paper Cup Ganesha

Supplies

  • Paper/plastic cups
  • Paints
  • Glue
  • Assorted colour chart papers
  • Golden paper/glitter
  • Scissors
  • Beads,stones,sequins (of your choice)

How to make it

  • Paint paper/plastic cup with your choice of colour and allow it to dry.
  • Now draw and cut elephant ‘s ears and trunk shape on a chart paper matching to paint you have used to paint paper/plastic cup.
  • Draw and cut mugat(head piece) of Ganesh using golden paper. If you don’t have golden paper you can use any light colour paper and stick glitter on it.
  • Now stick ears, trunk and mugat to painted paper/plastic cup.
  • Decorate mugat with beads, stones or stickers of your choice.
  • Draw features using markers. Add a tiny white tusk near trunk.

*Variation of same craft

  • Take two paper/plastic cups, stick both cups from top (refer image) and follow the method as above.
  • Draw and cut legs and hands shown in image and stick at appropriate places.

DIY Ganesha 2 – Paper Plate Ganesha

 

Supplies

  • Paper plate
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Marker
  • Stones, beads or stickers
  • paints

How to make it

  • Colour paper plate with your choice of colour. Allow it to dry.
  • Cut the paper plate as shown in the image.
  • Use the cut pieces of paper plate to make trunk and mugat and stick on face.
  • Decorate the Ganesh with your choice of stones or beads or stickers.

DIY Ganesha 3 – All Things Plastic Ganesha

Supplies

  • Plastic items like bottle caps, straws, spoons, etc.
  • Glue to stick plastic pieces
  • Stones, beads or stickers

How to make it

  • Collect all kinds of plastic disposable items like bottle caps, bottles, straws, spoons, etc.
  • Try and arrange the plastic pieces into a shape of Ganesh and stick it.
  • Use your imagination and refer to images for inspiration.

DIY Ganesha 4 – CD Ganesha

Supplies

  • Old CD
  • Some chart papers
  • Glue
  • Stones, beads or stickers

How to make it

  • Draw and cut two elephant s ears shape on a chart paper and stick on each side of an old CD.
  • Add a head piece/mugat and stick a trunk.
  • Add required features and decorate Ganesha with your choice of stones or beads or stickers.
